The Moog Center for Deaf Education is a private, non-profit center for children with hearing loss and their families.  Audiologists provide services to children from birth to 21 years of age, and work closely with Deaf Educators and Speech-Language Pathologists to develop listening and spoken language skills.

GOALS

The purpose of this training program is to provide extensive experience in pediatric audiology with an emphasis on cochlear implants.  By completion, individuals should feel confident applying critical thinking to outcomes-based management of pediatric patients and be independent in providing all audiologic services offered at the Moog Center.

Responsibilities include otoscopy; acoustic immittance testing; air and bone conduction testing via BOA, VRA, and CPA; hearing aid selection, fitting and verification using real-ear measurements; cochlear implant and bone conduction device candidacy evaluation, programming and verification; aided soundfield and speech perception testing; remote microphone system evaluation, fitting and verification; interaction with staff; and counseling parents.  Other opportunities may include participation in IFSP/IEP meetings, providing in-services, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Direct supervision will be provided by three experienced pediatric audiologists who hold Certificates of Clinical Competency in Audiology, two of whom are American Board of Audiology certified, and one of whom hold a Cochlear Implant Specialty Certification.

Interested individuals should be highly motivated, self-directed, and possess a strong interest in working with children with hearing loss, specifically those who have cochlear implants.  Exceptional academic, communication, and interpersonal skills are needed.
