Real-Time Embedded Coaching™: Evidence–Based Practices

Real-Time Embedded Coaching™ is an early intervention strategy used by professionals when coaching caregivers of children who are deaf or hard of hearing and is effective in accelerating the acquisition of language. Strategies and techniques for implementing evidence-based practices will be discussed. During this session Real-time embedded coaching™ will be explained and research to support its efficacy will be reviewed.
Introducing the Coaching Session and Setting Goals

Even if you missed Coaching Part 1, this session will describe how to introduce the concept of Real-time embedded coaching™ to primary caregivers. One component of Real-time embedded coaching™ is Joint Planning (a strategy for engaging caregivers), which includes an introduction to the session and setting goals. This session will include examples of setting the stage for a coaching session and strategies for setting goals for the caregiver and the child.
Implementing Real-Time Embedded Coaching™

Supporting Parents Through Reflection and Feedback

Reflection and Feedback are two additional and important components of a coaching session when working with families. This session will include strategies for engaging caregivers in Reflection, an activity that increases caregiver confidence and learning. Suggestions for providing effective feedback will be reviewed. Video recordings will illustrate techniques for encouraging Reflection and providing Feedback.
