Transitioning from Part C to Part B

Ideas and suggestions for helping parents prepare for the IEP meeting so they can better participate as equal partners in the IEP process will be presented. The intention of IDEA is for parents to be active participants in the IEP process; however, most parents do not have sufficient understanding of the process in order to engage fully. It is the obligation of professionals working with families to educate parents about the IEP process. This presentation will provide the information parents and professionals need to understand important aspects of the transition process from an IFSP to an IEP to ensure parents may more fully participate in the IEP meeting. The purpose of this presentation is to provide parents and professionals with information about how parents can be supported during the transition process from Part C to Part B of IDEA.
